Hi there!
I'm so glad you've stopped by. I am Michaela Delaney, the owner, founder and chief-editor of The Wordsmith. Here you will learn a little bit about me and how I wound up in the beautiful world of book editing.
All About Me
My journey started when I was only a little girl, no older than the age of seven or eight. I’d always been carried away by my imagination, building a new world every day to play in. Truth be told, I used my imagination to hide in my early years of life, and sometimes I still do.

My mother was an avid reader and an extraordinary copy setter, and she too was a freelancer. I remember days spent beside her as she worked on one of those old Mac computer towers, playing with my dolls. She was the one who introduced me to the world of books, and from there I was besotted. I was the kid that would get in trouble for staying up past my bedtime to read.

As I grew older, I dabbled in writing myself. The days of Tumblr, Quotev and Wattpad were blooming, and I decided to try my hand at writing a one direction fanfic about Zayn Malik. Cliche? Perhaps. But it was received well and I collected quite a few reads. On and off, I wrote and wrote, but I wasn’t until the pandemic started that I really sunk my teeth into it. As is expected, I fell into the world of editing one day, albeit unexpectedly. Times were tough and money was hard to come by. I'd posted a gig for editing up on Fiverr.com and expected little to come from it. And nothing did...until two months later when all of a sudden an order was placed with me.

I wish I could relive that moment over and over again. It was the start of my career, and I found one of my greatest passions. On Fiverr alone, I have edited over 125 books, and now I am ready to create my own editing company from the ground up - AKA The Wordsmith.
